Head Unit Blowing Fuses

Hi. I have a Pioneer DEH-P4600MP and today it stopped working. Upon visual inspection, I pulled the little 10A fuse and saw it was blown and the hu smelled like a cap gun after firing a whole ring of caps. So then I went to Kragen to buy more fuses and then replaced the blown fuse with a new one. I reconnected the wiring harness and the hu powered up but there was no sound! So i turned off the hu, turned it back on, but then it wouldn't turn on again. I checked the fuse and it was blown AGAIN!

After that, I put in an old jvc hu and it powered up and provided sound just fine! My question is, is there anything I can do to make it work or will pioneer be able to fix it under warranty (it's about 4 months old). Oh yeah, what could cause my hu to act like this?

Thanks for all your help!

Warranty should cover this.

That is if it was from an authourized dealer.

Definetly get a new h/u if you can

Something must have shorted out for that to happen.

Thats all i can think of

Before you put a new head unit in, check the resistance of all your speakers. I once saw a vehicle that went through a couple Pioneer head units because one of the speakers had a shorted voice coil. It showed almost no DC resistance when tested with a multimeter. Over time it damaged each of the head units, after blowing both vehicle fuses and head unit fuses. We didn't catch it early because my idiot co-workers tried just replacing fuses with larger ones, instead of tracking down the real problem.
