head lights flicker

Ok everytime the bass hit, when the volume is above 30 ( max is 40 on my unit), my head lights give a little flicker. Does this happen to any of yall. Basically I'm wondering what I should do eletrically to stop this. My car is a 2003 Ford Explorer and my system is in my sig.

Wait until you pulls so much current your car jerks on the highway and your engine almost dies... lol...

On a more serious note, a large ground and the Big 3 should help a lot. After that it's an upgraded alternator you'll likely need.

How many amps your alt push? How much wattage are your amps?

My alt is weak. My mmats d100hc pulls well over 80 amps alone. No wonder my headlights almost go out.. lol. Big three probably ain't gonna help me..

What? An 800 RMS amp that pulls 90A? Man..

My 1200W RMS amp calls for 80A fuse in the manual, but I blow those up almost instantly. Any idea why I blew so many 80A fuses? I actually installed a 150A circuit breaker to stop it.

An 80A fuse aint enough for 1200w rms...
I learned that the hard way. Have no idea why the manual stated it though.

Well you just ruined any chance of anyone knowledgable on this board to take you seriously
Thats what I get for assuming products will do what they say on the box. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Lucky for me, I've got jmanpc to clear up any mistakes I've made. Thanks jmanpc!

Bah. Caps have their place. They're not ALWAYS a load on the electrical system. They store and discharge electrical energy a LOT faster than your battery could possibly supply it. If installed in the right way, and sufficiently backed up by a strong alternator and battery, then a cap can actually help with those little flickers.

If all you're noticing is that little bit of dimming, and your voltage is remaining relatively constant, even at idle, it's probably more a problem with the "fast" supply of power to the amp. A cap could definitely help in that situation.
