Hdmi?

Im looking at a Yamaha RX-V2600 and it has these HDMI inputs and outputs...But, looking at the current CD and DVD players in the Yamaha line, they dont even have the HDMI outputs?

I understand that its just another option along with fiber, coax, etc..but, should i really be concerned about getting components with the outputs?

I also realize this is going to be subjective and all, but i dont want to buy a reciever with all the "bells and whistles" and not utilize them if thats one of the reasons i paid all the extra money...

You would only find that on the newer "upconverting" dvd players..... but it'll be a waste when everything moves over to the HD-formats.

Yeah, just get something that'll do DTS and has progressive scan (which is like 99%).

Get an HD-DVD player with HDMI output ... You won't get full resolution from HD-DVD or Blu-Ray discs unless you use HDMI or DVI outputs along with an HDCP compliant monitor ...

Agreed... I love the Yamaha Receivers but not a big fan of their dvd or cd players.

Sounds good, I got my Yamaha for a good *** deal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Other wise I was going to recomend the Rotel RSX-1067 or RSX-1056, but the Yamaha is more wattage than both of them... You should like the Ascendants....

Another thing that just poped into my head, I know Yamaha pushes their autoEQ thing, don't use it. Use the Phase checker, and the distance thing, but the autoEQ sounds like most autoEQ's not good....

im building them into some 42" tall towers for the mains, obviously lol..and normal for the center channel..gonna do the single mid/tweet for the rears aswell as a assassin 10 and rhythmic audio 250 for starters...

im just starting to get into ht and out of spl..

im also looking at a h/k dpr 2005? you have any opinions...(doesnt have the hdmi's)

I'm not a big fan of the H/K products. The higher end Sony, Arcam, and Pioneer Elite are all pretty good. Depends really on how much you want to spend on a disk reader....
