hdcp compliancy?

so i bought an element HDTV and hooked up an upconverting dvd player via hdmi cable, and the dvd player gives me an error saying the monitor hooked up isn't hdcp compliant, now im going to return this tv and was wondering if anyone could let me know if this tv was hdcp compliant:

If I had to guess, I'd say yes. Maybe see if you can just bring your dvd player to the store and hook it up?

it is for copy protection

the dvd player will send a signal to the tv to make sure it is compliant, if not you get the error and the video wont play

doesnt matter what the source is, it sends the signal through the dvi or hdmi cable when ANYTHING is played and if the HDTV isnt compliant it wont work
