my brother has an hdc3 12 inch. ive had it in 3 different boxes and its sounds as if it over excurts but idk?? or do they just have alot of mechanical noise. ive herd many youtube vids where they sound the same as mine

how much power, box tuning/size, music being played???

I've done boxes for at least a dozen HDC's in the last year and NOT one has made any noise. Some got a break in and some were beat on from the start...

it was bought new, aq 2200 for power, 2.2 cubes 40 hz box design from dj , only hiphop rap is played . the sub is 4 months old . it didnt make any mechanical noise till recently. on thorshammer1 his vids sound like what mine is doing

I heard in the past they had mechanical noise issues but they had got that fixed a while ago..

You could possibly be clipping it.

Perhaps 4 months of playing below tuning without the SSF set properly and probably clipping the shit out of the signal has finally beat your sub to death.

Pull the sub and play it free air off a few hundred watts and see how it sounds.

could be 1 of the spiders in the pack is broke at the triple joint. play it at low vol out of the enclosure...

Mine made a lot of noise and still do on certain frequencies keeps getting louder everyday the more i break it in. i hear noise when its short hard hammer type bass cause the spiders are so stiff. i would also blame a lot of it on how small my box is. its 3 cubes per and i should have 4+

Okay I had a problem with mechanical noise on my HDC3 15, Take it out of the box play a 30hz tone on about 500 W and see if you hear anything. For some the spiders were not glued down correctly Atleast thats what DJ said. But there good subs And if there is a prob with the spiders DJ will take care of it. Ive heard lots of mechanical noise issues with these subs though from not breaking them in right. anything below 30 hz i think isnt reccommened for breaking them in.
