HDC3's - 2 12's or 1 15?

Ok i'm stuck.

I'm replacing my e12's powered of a MTX 1501D(1500wrms) in 3.2cf @ 39hz, and i can't decide which would provide me with more output?

This would be in a trunk car.

I'm thinking the 12's will, but id like a second opinion.

The 12's would get about 1250wms/each.

The 15 would would be receiving 2500wrms.

Box options

-3.7cf common chamber tuned to 38hz w/ about 60in^3 of slot port.

-4.3ish common chamber tuned to 38hz w/ 28in^3 (4 3" aero's side firing)

**could posibly get 4ft^3 w 50in^3( 4 4" in aero's side firing, sub up firing), but only with the 15 not the 12's

i would say the 15. because your dealing with so little power and its cheaper. but if your ever gonna get more power get the 12's

my single HDC3 15 pounds awfully hard on just 1600 watts. a single 15 with more than 1500 is plenty for daily IMHO!

when the new shipment comes in they will feature a copper coil as Standard on them.. With 1250 Clean and strong they will get hella loud and you will ave more options on upgradeing power in the future...
The Aluminums shine on more power 1800 RMS to 2500... Where the Coppers will shine on 1100 to 2k...

I know power is cheap nowdays, but since when is 2500W "so little power"?

Just going from what I've heard, I agree with what others have said, that with the copper coils you should get good output with the 1250W you would have for each 12. My vote is the 12's

2 12's is my vote. Might be installing 2 of them in a Charger pretty soon for a guy on here. He's running a single DD9515 right now and wants more...

why does the larger box have less port area? i think its supposed to be 12in² per 1 cu ft, so the 4.3 needs need to be around 60in² not 28

2- 12's hands down. Two reasons. 2 12's will be louder and they will take that power better than a single 15" will.

Id say the 15 to, or single 12...i got mine pretty loud

1250 a piece for the 12 wont even get it going..... I would throw 2500 on the 15....it will want more but 2500 watts will allow it to shine

I'd only be able to get the 4.3ft^3 w/ aero ports, the other box would be space limited by the area a 60in^3 slot port would take up.

X2. It will cost a little more up front, but most likely there will be more output, and you have the assurance you can play it full tilt 24/7/365 and never hurt anything.
