hdc312 on a gp3000d-pro

well with the new deck and everything done correctly, gain is about 3/4, no boost no nothin, sounds great, but still no voltage drop.... i set my gains using a DMM, and played a 50hz test tune (h/u at 42/62) and got the voltage to 55ish. still no voltage drop. i lost all interest in finding why i dont have it. i am just going to say this amp is great and is using the power it receives well. i am going to soon get that hc2400, and probably just leave it at that if i still dont have any voltage drop. its loud. pretty much loud enough for daily beatin.

not to seem critical but i highly doubt everything is set right if ur running that much power on a stock electrical with no voltage drops

please specify what you mean by you doubt everything is set right...?? and i am in no way being defensive, but i also am confused here.

now i have done some installs before... and the only difference is that i now have set my gains using a DMM. before, i had a nice panasonic headunit and even when i had the opti2000.1d hooked up to a stock blazer electical there was voltage drop, i had to replace my alternator once before i got a 200amp one. ended up blowing the amp and got a visonik v4000xd. and a 200 amp alt and a small yellowtop in the trunk, and still had a good amount of voltage drop.

THIS situation, i am using a different vehicles electrical and have done the big 3 with huge cable. using a monster amp and a power hungry subwoofer and have not a significant amount of voltage drop. starts at 13.8v and drops to about 13.0ish in daytime. and have no metered at night. lights flicker at punchy hits, but not too bad on regular bass if at all.. my ground is proper, and the big 3 is done perfectly. and as far as i know the alt is 117amp. and i set my gains using a DMM..i just dont see where i could have gone wrong.....

Sounds like youre getting a decent sized voltage drop lol. Where were you measuring your voltage from again?

yeah...but considering the situation. this amp draws 300 amps. the opti (which blew an alternator) drew probably half that...IF THAT.

i am going to do more series of tests at night. and try a few different bass tones. maybe something mechanically wrong with this amp...

SOB!!!

Why are you upset your voltage isn't dropping? ......just go with it man
the reason why i am upset, is because IMO i think it should be dropping...if it is not dropping, i HIGHLY doubt that i am getting the full potential out of the amplifier. like i have said many many many of times, i have a 117amp alt. and a 300 amp (current draw) amplifier. 117 is not anywhere close to 300, and not to mention that i am probably only getting about 80amps (TOPS!) i guess im just a worry wart. but i think it is for good reasons. i mean the system is loud. BUT where is all this missing amperage?? why is that amp not taking more than what is given??? these are why i am upset. i pay $500 for an amp that pulls 300 amps, i expect that to happen!
