HD Radio - Really a Difference?

I never really listened to the radio much until my CD player went out recently...although my teenage daughter listens to it constantly when I give her the opportunity to control what we listen to in my car.

In looking for a new unit for my car it looks as though the difference between the 'HD Ready' unit and the 'Built in HD Radio' unit is about $30.

My questions are: 1) are most radio stations now HD; 2) can you really hear a difference with an HD radio; 3) what's the difference between 'HD Ready' and 'Built in HD Radio'?

Sorry for the 'non-educated' questions...just trying to make an educated decision.

You can check online for HD stations...i bought a HD tuner but found out there were no local HD chs in my area //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Thanks for that link. It looks like there are quite a few coming out of Charlotte and Asheville, NC that I listen to a lot!!!

thats good...There are enough if I lived in the southern part of my state I'd get one...but pretty much nothing up here...I just rechecked....I heard its pretty much CD quality sound...plus good information...like song titles artist ect
