i had a 5000 the same time as i had my four 2500d's but i never put them head to head on my TL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i am sad about that

I really wish Orion hadn't gone to the "numbers" game by naming their amplifiers @ MAX power.
Model Number HCCA-D5000

Max Power 5000

4 Ohm Rating 1000 x 1

2 Ohm Rating 1600 x 1

1 Ohm Rating 2500 x 1

Pretty pathetic if you ask me!

ETA: The reason I haven't even considered purchasing a new Orion amp is due to this crappy marketing scheme. Just think, they are now in the same league as Pyramid, Legacy, Boss, Kenwood, etc.... in that they rate their amplifiers at MAXIMUM power.

what would you say about Dynamic Power that DD rates there amps????? they just took Maximum Power and Renamed it, so would you still rate DD in with Pyramid, Legacy, Boss, Kenwood, Sony?????//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif:confused://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif:confused://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Where did I say anything bad about DD? I would have NO problems running a DD amp in my system. ETA: Also, DD doesn't place an arbitrary wattage number on their amplifiers making the unsuspecting consumer think they are getting something they are not. The only way that Orion HCCA-D5000 is going to produce 5000 watts RMS is if it is struck by lightning while the owner is bowing down and facing Mecca!

As for Orion, since the DEI buyout, you couldn't give me one of their amps. I'd run a Hifonics BXi series amp before I would run an Orion and I don't like the BXi line!

Maybe my problem stems from the fact that I have owned the original Orion amplifiers. At one time, that number printed on the amplifier meant that was the MINIMUM RMS power that it would produce. Back then Orion rated their amplifiers at 11.8 volts with an insanely low distortion figure too. All DEI has done for Orion was take a legendary name, and slap it on your average, run of the mill, typical Asian build house amplifier to SELL a product, nothing more!

So until something changes, I am classifying post DEI Orion amplifiers as junk just like Pyramid, Legacy, Boss, Kenwood, and Sony playing the MAX Power numbers game to appeal to unsuspecting buyers!
