Today while i was driving down the road my stereo kept on turning off for no reason.

This has reall been my last straw with this install.

I got my speakers and all that jazz at bestbuy because i dont know how to do an install myself.

I am going to return everything this afternoon and go to a audio dealer like stereo king or car toys or something.

An hour after best buy isntalled my speakers and deck 20 days ago my alternator went out no idea why.

So i had to fork over a 100 more for that.

Now the deck turns off magically. And my lights have been dim ever since so im thinking that is a poor ground.

Basically they cared less how they did the install and jsut wanted me out the door. I am going to spend my money elsewhere.

I have a $1200 dollar budget and listen to mainly rap. Could help get a system together for me?

I am looking for SQ the most. But i want speakers taht will take advantage of an amp so i can make it "loud" with as little distortion as possible.

Any help is appreciated!

Also, would it be fair for me to get my labor costs refunded as well seeing how the labor they did provide was obviously very poor?

hell yes get everything returned.

they ****ed up your installation. your shit kept turning off and on all over the place.

with $1200 you could get a real nice mid level stereo in my oppinion.

also reset the gains using the gain setting tutorial in the amp forum and turn off all bass boost. if your amps are clipping, you'll draw a lot more current. i wouldn't trust best buy to properly set your gains.

no amps are on my system. I was also told that an amp wouldnt benefit my current speakers much at all because there so weak i guess.

The alternator thing was rpobably jsut a coincidence but while i was in the garage signing the papers the guy was telling his buddy abotu some other guy wanting a return and he talked him out of it and another about some other guy. Now i know why they wanted to return. Cause' there s**t don't work like it should.

Would it be wise for me to just talk to a salesrep at stereo king and tell him what i have to work with and what i want or would he just talk out his *** and not really give me what i need? it doesnt seem like the installers are anywehre near as noligable as people on these boards.

well if no amps are installed then return it.

salesmen are just that. people trying to sell stuff to you.

when i worked on the sales floor, they used to stick me in sporting goods and idk the first thing about fishing or hunting. your best bet is too research online and then buy.

its not stated in this post buy my setup was a deh-4900ib pioneer deck

infinity 4022i front speakers

sps-17c2 alpines for the rears

Was going to go get like 2 12's and an amp with my next check but id rather just return and start from scratch.

So any body who has some input on what i should get for a rap based system i would very much appreciate it.

yes dude, you always need to amp your interior speakers... it sounds WAYYY cleaner, louder, more punch, its WORLDS different

i will never go back to having no amp on my interior speakers... even if its a little 50x2 it makes a huge difference from the 10-13 watts your headunit puts out

No amps or custom wiring? Then it's a simply a deck install and a wiring harness that any monkey can install. It sounds like you have a bad deck and/or some unrelated electrical problems since your alt went out.
