Post why you picked what you did if you vote.

I am trying to figure out whats the best ammo for my springfield Armory XD sub compact which only has a 3" barrel.

Well i am looking to pick up some SD ammo if i can find some for my xdsc 9mm 3" barrel some i looked at say not good for short barrels so does it matter.

Should i go with 115gr,124gr,147gr, 124+p, or 147+p ammo.

I was looking into

speer gold dots, winchester ranger, winchester sxt, federal hydra shock, federal HST, or Corbon.

undecided on the grain and load since i am shooting it out of the XDSC. I heard go with a lighter load and a +P to pick up speed. I also hear that the 124 +P will expand quicker but not penetrate as deep. I heard the 147gr wont be fast and wont expand as much but penetrate more. Test i have shown show the 147 expanding more than the 124 and basically the same penetration. HST makes a 147+P so would that be the best of both worlds.

So its down to the 124 vs 124+P vs. 147 vs. 147+P

I am guessing either the 124+P or the 147+P would be the best.

What do you suggest for the XDSC 3"

Thanks

Very Nice piece you have there. Same one i'm currently using as my CCW. Till i find something a little better(more compact). Mines loaded up with some +P Speer Gold dot. For being a short barrel did very nice at the range today:D

Yep its a very nice gun and far as more compact i would suggest a Ruger LCP 380 or

kel tec pf-9 but i think the XDSC is very concealable. Think back when peoeple used to conceal 1911's or to this day still do or conceal 45's just get a crossbreed supertuck and i bet u will be happy

cant decide between what grain and load to get pretty set of HST or maybe Gold Dot but leaning towards the HST. Thinking of getting a box of 50rds of 124+P and 50rds of 147 or 147+P not sure

I love it in jeans and shorts, but my work uniform pants the pockets are a little more awkward and doesn't fit as well. what kind of holster you using? Right now the one im using is a Uncle Mikes #4. The XDSC is on loan to me until i purchase my own. I was looking into the Kel-Tec, and i like the Ruger, but im trying to stay in the 9 mm range, so only have to stock pile one ammo.

yea i like the kel tec pf-9 size is great and same with the LCP but both well the kel tec has more of a snap than the lcp the LCP is a nice gun. just wish it was a 9mm haha. Only thing bout kel tec is their reliability isnt that great after about 2500rds a few of those guns have problems and sometimes before that the build just isnt the greatest i have talked to several people who own them say that and some say they are very reliable so its a coin toss. I wouldnt trust me life with it for my CCW look into a glock, XD, or even a LCP the glock is slightly smaller so thats a option.

Try a crossbreed supertuck for the XDSC and get a nice belt for the holster

Ill chime in again:)

At wal mart, no. I hit wal mart multiple times a week, and only score probably twice a month. but when i find it i buy it all. Now i can walk into any local gun shop and buy as much as i want, but at that higher price.

Brother picked up the tools for reloading, and we collect all our brass at the range, so once we start reloading, it wont be so bad to get ammo for the range.

let me know when you start reloading man i will buy ammo from you since i shoot alot. I just ordered 500rds from bass pro for 125 shipped on backorder of course. But oh well just wait it out once i have it then i will have it unlike getting maybe a box a week at local walmarts. Pawn shops have it but want 20 bucks for 50rds fucccck that

yep, walmarts got the best deals i can find on 9mm, just sucks trying to find it, Last time i found it, it was 100round value picks of winchester for like 20$ bought all 3 they had.

Just a FYI: The Springfield does not like Non-Full jacketed. Brother has a 500rd box of cheap non- full jacketed and it didnt want to feed correctly, so we use the good stuff in the XD, and use the cheap crap in my Sigma and his SW 5906

If your just going to the range to shoot around id just get the cheaper of what you have listed. Ammo prices **** anymore. We have gun shows around me almost every weekend, thats where I usually pick up ammo for cheap, can get some good deals on firearms aswell.

On a side note, I love carrying my colt 1911 as my CCW, a little overkill yeah but works for me
