Grounding RCA's

never tried it in my car. but on my turntables its basically a third wire that connects from the frame of the turntable to the frame of the mixer... probably dosen't help but yeah

i'd actually like to know as well... i dont even know the point myself

It's wrapping a thin wire around your RCA's, usually one side of a 16ga speaker wire or a remote turn on lead wire. But tightly wrapped the whole length of the RCA, using about a 150% ratio of wrap to RCA(ex.15ft of wrap to 10 feet of RCA), Then usually there is a ground screw on the back of the deck, you can ground one end of the ground wire wrapped around the RCA's to that screw, or just ground the other end by piggy backing into your ground terminal on the amp, from the wire wrapped around RCA's.

I've done it once, only because I was trying to rid my system of a nasty noise, turned out it was my deck(pioneer), so if it worked or not in preventing alt whine/other induced noise, I'll never know.

Its to eliminate ground loops by connecting the the chassis of the two components together.

Example- a wire conncted to the frame of the HU then to the heatsink of the amp, if you dont want to run a wire you can just use the RCA line.

Solder (or wrap) a tiny (18 to 22gauge) length of wire to the outer sheild on the RCA end then secure it to the metal frame of the amp or the HU.

Some RCA's have a wire on them just for this purpose, most people just use them for a remote on lead though.
