I've got my own system worked out, normally I tip pretty **** good (at least 20%). To get this you must: A: Never let my drink run out, or at least get me a refill within a minute or two B: Bring us the food in a timely manner (I can understand a wait if the place is busy) C: Check on us frequently, I hate the waiter that drops off the food then disappears for an hour. D: Just be generally nice Overall these things should be common sense but often I find myself getting shit service, and my tip reflects it. I think the waiters see me as a college student and expect me to not tip well so they give me shit service...in which case that's exactly what I'm going to do. I see a small tip as more of a suggestion that they should look for a different job. Some people just aren't cut out for being a waiter/waitress. Also, I'd like to add, I NEVER tip the girls at Sonic, they make minimum wage and all they're doing is bringing my food to me, I did that shit ALL THE TIME at McDonalds and I never received any tips. I don't tip at car washes, cold stone, or anytime I get carry out. It's ridiculous to think some pizza joints expect a tip when you come pick up the pizza yourself...
