Graphic vs Parametic EQ

It all depends on what you need. Is you only have 3 problem areas, then that 3 band para would be fine. If you have more then you will probably need something different. The problem with graphic EQs especially ones that are 2/3 octave is that the bands might not be where you need them. If going with a graphic EQ for serious tuning, more bands are a must. 1/3 octave spacing is pretty much required. Now using both of those EQs together might work out pretty decent.

A real parametric EQ has three things for each band: frequency, gain (or cut), and Q. Q is the "width" of the adjustment.

A graphic EQ has more bands, but the only thing you can adjust on them is the gain (or cut). You need a lot of bands to get a specific trouble spot. But using a graphic EQ is easier to get a general tuning. Parametric EQs are better for fixing specific frequency trouble spots.
