Goliath Xx V. Goliath Xxv

yes, this statement was just made on here recently by db-r who is very respected for his work.

The larger amps, XX, XXV etc are a WHOLE different ballgame. Most of them make rated power plus, granted it's at 14.4V.

the new XXV 25 yr model is better than than prior xx 20 yr models and are extremely under rated. all of their ratings are at 12 volt not 14+, a good example is the Maxximus 10kw amp thats at 12 volts at 16 it does over 15kw

I hate to do this, because I like Maxxsonics, but the XX Goliath > XXV Goliath.

Same design in both amps, more parts, more power, bigger physical size too, in the XX series vs the XXV. They downsized those amps.

I will not work on an XX... too many outputs, prone to failure over and over again has been my experience with those. I can sucessfully repair the XXV Goliath's all day. Same as the following amps:

IA 40.1

American Bass VFL 500.1

DD Z1A

Atomic 5K

and the list goes on... differences only in power supply config, 2 large transformers vs 4 smaller ones, same amp otherwise, different boards, same parts.

i just let them laugh, sometimes i am off on the info, but usually not by much and there is at least truth to what i say. others just spout total crap and right or wrong all their little ca buddies jump in and agree lolz. at least if I am corrected i admit to the fault and learn from it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The IA 40.1 has a better reputation but it's the same thing on the inside as the XXV Goliath yes. If they laughed it's because they are ignorant.

When I first got into working on amps, first thing that suprized me was the similar designs and parts used in so many different brands, and then I was really shocked when I started to see the same boards in amps that are twice as expensive and/or 2 amps, one with a good rep, the other with a bad rep....

I was like everyone else who is "green" about ampifiers and thought that all companies that made them used different designs parts etc.... Boy was I wrong, that went out in the 80's and 90's... Lots of people still don't know this.....

The reason I get on here and point out similarities and differences in amplifiers is not to just be bashing or promote certain products.... What I would like to see is some NEW RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.... Yes I am yelling it out to all the Audio companies out there.... Fire all your marketing dweebs who can't design an amplifier to save the world, hire some engineers and design and build some new shiz... stop buying the cookie cutter stuff from the build houses and putting your own name on it!!!!!

LOL I so wish that would happen but I doubt it in this economy and given the reduced state of the Car Audio business in general. Don't get me wrong, not all of the "cookie cutter" designs are bad, there are good ones, and some companies do more than just market their products, some actually improve on them on a regular basis, but it would be nice to see some new better designs.... Not just more power for less money and let build quality be the least concern.... shouldn't be that way....

I can't openly publish things like that for legal reasons. No I do not keep a list though...

no need to, when you have seen the insides of as many as I have you can tell what's in it as soon as the cover comes off....

Realm of Excursion.com in the "amp guts" section has a few comparisons when you go from amp to amp.If you look up an amp it might have the list below the pictures of what other amp uses the same board.
