gimling,
I see that this thread is a couple months old but I would like to discuss your question, nowadays, dual channel FFT is the only way to go for TRUE system tuning/alignment. Software that is used mainly in the pro sound industry, Smaart, SysTune, etc. I am a car audio installer of 15+ yrs. and I am amazed at how the car audio industry still embraces the old 1/3 octave RTA as the tool of choice for "professional" acoustic analysis and system alignment. This is a ******* joke! Seriously, if your local shop uses an Audio Control SA305X as their only method of acoustic measurement, don't let 'em charge ya much, especially if they are going to attempt to "time align" your fully active system using delay. This CANNOT be done with an RTA. and since timing affects phase, it is very important, critical, in actual professional system tuning.
