i can name alot of pba bowlers.... only cause im a bowler and have bowled with alot of them haha. The MLS isn't US-only is it? If not, this is probably the only country they have trouble selling tickets in. And like I said, tennis, bowling, etc all make money and no one can name more than one or two players in those kind of sports.
its different in the PBA though. they are only selling a couple hundred tickets, and they do sell out each event. and the bowlers dont necessarily get paid a salary from anyone. they make prize money based on how they place in the tournament. most of those guys have jobs in the off season or own pro shops.
and at least in tennis all the majors are nationally televised, so there must be some interest in it.
its just when it comes to bowling, tennis, soccer the fan base is pretty much within people that have played the sport, and even some of those people say they cant stand to watch the games. but with NFL, MLB, NBA, there are tons of fans that have never touched a ball in their life but go to and watch the games... with those sports so dominant in american culture i cant see them getting any more popular. you can get as many investors as you want but eventually if they arent making money on their investment they will move on.
anyways, good luck with ur girl. only time will tell if it works out.
