Germanium power dilemma...

What do you think....?

I have a set of Germaniums currently being powered by a Zapco 350.2, and I've decided that I'm going to install my Audison amplifiers, and put my Zapco's in the wife's car. For the Germaniums, I can use my 2.500 (200 watts x 2), or my 4.300, and bi-amp (65 watts x 4). Which way would you go? For all who want to know, the sub stage is powered by twin 1.400's (900 watts x 1).

Thanks for your help!

So you would go with 200 watts x 2 in my case? Thanks for your opinion. I'm leaning in that direction to begin with, but I want to entertain the bi-amping option...

Bi-amp gives you a little more flexibility.IMO Having owned the 4.300 and 1.400 myself. I feel the 4.300 in bi-amp will give you plenty of power. If power was a problem then even after you installed the 4.300 then you could bridge the 4.300 giving you 210w each side RMS vs. installing the 2.500 then deciding you want to bi-amp and having to install the 4.300 to try it out.IMO

The 4.300 will still provide you more power bridged than the 2.500 will.

Very true. Thanks for your opinion!

i was unimpressed with the germaniums on 4x50w. The extra 15w might help....but i doubt it would be a night and day difference... I'd run 2x200 to them.

Thats why you bridge the 4.300 for 210 x 2 @4ohm vs. the 2.500 200 x 2 @4ohm.

I like having plenty of power on tap so if you do not mind installing both amps I would do with the mikey7182 recommendation.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Lol! I certainly could if I wanted to give up the backseat of my Silverado! I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what to do with three amps, and a Kinetik when the box I built for two 12" Q's downfiring takes up every inch under the rear benchseat..
