General bass question

I drive an older BMW coupe (a two-door with four seats, but really a tiny interior). How much bass can I expect to gain if I add ONE 10" or 12" subwoofer to the trunk? Is it a lot less audible compared to two subs? I don't need bass that will wake the neighborhood, but just enough so that I can "feel" it.

From what you described, a single 10" or 12" will accomplish that...

My single ported 12" is loud enough to completely overpower my front stage, if I wanted it to do that. And that's in a huge interior.

if you want just a little extra bass for some nice SQ a single 10" would work good for you with like 100-200 watts if you dont want a lot of bass but just a little extra thump.

It would most likely reduce the overall SPL in-cabin...

yes it does make a difference... i have a gas tank between my trunk and cabin...b4 i took my first aid kit out of the rear deck, there was little to no bass getting thru. after, i could feel it a lot more.

I had a 04 GTO with a 12w7 in there, after I removed the rear speakers from the deck(gas tank also in the trunk) the SPL increased dramaticly

Depends on the shop. Some smaller self respecting shops don't have a problem with it. Bigger ones naturally are less likely too because it is easier for certain people to "forget" that you have to pay for them. =\

What kind of budget do you have? I run a single 10" JL W7, and it is as loud as I want it to be, or I can turn the bass down to where it perfectly compliments my mids and highs.I bet an 8W7 and a 250/1 would satisfy you. I am in an Audi a4, with the sub in trunk, seats are never folded down. I get plenty of SPL.
