I think next time I go to the gas station, I will take the nozzel and hold it high and scream to the high heavens "I Refuse to pay another red cent to you POS goverment retards!" Then go on about my business and hope I have enough gas in my car to get home.
Next time I go to the gas station if anybody is buying E85 I'm punching them in the mouth for supporting a product that raises the price of tequila //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Cut demand in half by killing half the people?

Hang Bush from the nearest derrick?

Invent a flux capacitor?

The first thing to do as I see it is to get the value of the American dollar up. OPEC denominates oil sales in US dollars and the more it plunges, the more we pay. Bush's borrow and spend economics are far worse than the Demos' tax and spend. At least with Clinton we had a surplus, which meant we had a stake in making those dollars have a higher value. A debtor nation wants to see their currency decline so the debt's value lessens.

If I said any more, someone would want Cliff's notes and I don't do that. You want the whole story and it takes time to write it as well as read it. However the currency valuation is the first thing to tackle. There's plenty of knots to untie before we get back to Good Times but currency values can be dealt with relatively quickly on our end and by taking the right actions, we end the huge rise in oil barrel prices in short order.

Believe it or not, high gas prices are a GOOD thing. As gas prices go up, the incentive to find alternative fuel sources goes up as well. Fossil fuels will eventually run out, so the sooner we find efficient, renewable fuels, the better off we will be in the future.

But if you really want to try to get cheap gas NOW, here's four things you can try, but won't succeed in.

1) You can buy less gas and convince everyone else to buy less as well. But you NEED gas, so you're going to buy it anyway, aren't you? Now when everyone has that same mentality, prices will stay where they are.

2) You could start a new oil company, increasing supply and competition, forcing prices down (temporarily). Barriers to entry are ungodly in that market though. Good luck.

3) Government intervention (i.e. a price ceiling) could lower prices as well. So you could write a letter to a politician to try to pass a bill. But then you'd be waiting hours at the pump to get gasoline. And that gasoline might not even still be there once your turn at the pump has come up. Shortages = bad stuff. (Less taxation would work as well, but then we'd just be feeding our foreign debt further and decreasing the incentive to develop new fuels.)

4) Maybe if the nice oil companies just GAVE away gas and ignored their costs and profit margins, then it could be cheaper. Maybe you could write a nice letter?

There are your options. Good luck. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This is why I'm going to by a VW Golf TDI 50mpg on the highway FTW.

Oh, and we have it easy. People in Britain were paying about $9 per gallon like 2 years ago. I wish gas was cheaper, sure, but we are already getting a huge discount as the world's number one consumer of crude oil.

What is really dumb is that diesel is more expensive than gasoline. It costs much less to produce.

Diesel may cost less to produce, but the globle demand for it is so great that the prices have been on an upward swing for the last 4 years.
Diesel is more expensive only in the states because we have set our refineries to produce the most gasoline. Whereas in Europe, their refineries are used to produce around the same amount of gasoline and diesel. Such is why diesel is killer here and it won't do any good for car companies to bring diesel over to the states.

I paid $4.02/ gallon the other day for gas //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif... My truck is on fumes again, about to go get more right now.
Sucks!

I will need gas tomorrow. 50 bucks gone, just like that.

Also to those that wish you could pay just that much, then you know what you need to do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
