Rockfords legendary Punch Series amps have been continually relied upon to deliver ultra-clean power to everything from mild to wild systems for more than a decade. By drawing on the feedback they receive from hardcore car audio competitors, Rockford has continually improved their Punch amps to offer more reliable power better sound quality. Rockfords Transana (TRANSconductance Active Nodal Amplifier) MOSFET circuitry simplifies the current and voltage gain while TOPAZ (Tracking Operation Pre Amplifier Zone) circuitry eliminates 80% of unwanted noise created by ground loops. Punch amplifiers feature discreet surface mount technology (DSM) utilizing high-speed robotics to produce circuit boards that are more efficient, put out more power, and are less prone to unwanted noise. To keep the amp protected, Rockfords NOMAD (Non-Multiplying Advanced Decision) protection circuitry uses an analog computer that serves to protect, but not limit the amp. The Punch 401S comes with Punch Bass, a remote operated bass level control that helps correct for missing low bass output in the automotive sound environment without adding excessive boost. The supplied remote level knob can be installed anywhere for easy tuning. The 401S features a built-in 12dB slope crossover, variable between 50-250Hz high/low-pass. If bass is what you crave, switch on Punch Bass for a 6 or 12dB emphasis at 45 Hz, and mind-numbing bass energy. The updated die-cast heatsink is powder-coated with SolarTex for greater heat dissipation and has a sleek, rounded shape. Features removable endcaps that cover all connections for a clean, finished appearance.
