im not quite sure how they measure mounting depth, but from the trim piece to the back of the unit it measures 6 inches, and id say you would need atleast another 1/2-1 inch for the wire harness.

Dang. My little sister is about to get her license and the stereo in her future car is shot. Its looking like the mounting depth (according to crutchfield) is 5.5" so i'm not guessing there is any chance of this one working out.

cant always go by crutchfield though, sometimes cars have small plastic pieces or things like that which get in the way that you can easily remove/break. What kinda car is it? This seems like a pretty common size, i mean all the ones i have had are basically all the same plus or minus a little.
