The famed "racetrack" shaped sub from Boston. This sub is an absolute bruiser, while maintaining composure for musical sections as well. the box is included, as well as mounting hardware to secure it tightly.

Give it 250w and it will be happy

Give it 2000w if you feel like damaging internal organs.

either way, this sub will play loud and DEEP, real deep (can you say 4" peak to peak excursion?!!?)

my recommendations....

make sure you have a serious set of midbasses to help this sub keep up with the music

also, it is a good suggestion to call boston and pick up a 4ohm voice coil (can be swapped in like 5 minutes) to gear this sub more towards SQ than SPL (right now the VC is 2ohm)

pictures upon request.

just FYI, changing the voice coil from 2 ohm to 4 ohm will not change any sonic characteristics of any speaker unless the winding is a different amount of layers and has any different electromechanical variations.

and i am 99% they have not changed anything with the 2 ohm versus 4 ohm - aside from the resistance. you will hear no difference wat so evar besides there will be 1\3 or less power applied.

just a FYI.

cool sub, not my cup of tea, but they are cute.

i agree with you if we are referring to the sonic characteristics of the sub as an individual, but as every sub must be paired with an amp to function, i think there will still be a sonic benefit.

damping is doubled and THD specs are lowered by a factor of 1/2 when impedance is doubled, thus suggesting that swapping the voice coil will yield a higher level of control at the expense of a certain level of output. this is what i have come to learn, anyway. assuming this is true, i am willing to sacrifice the extra output to gain the most musical characteristics from this sub.

how nice that we can swap out the V.C. on the same sub....who wants it??? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Running a speaker with a higher impedance does not inherently mean it will sound better. Take the speaker with half the impedance (so twice the THD etc) and turn the amplifier's gain down to level match output between the two systems being compared. You'll find dampening and THD will be virtually identical, certainly a non-audible difference between the two.
As req suggested, you cannot get something for nothing. This includes power and/or distortion.

Oh and bump. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
