3. Description/Condition:

This unit is in like brand new condition. I originally bought this unit for just the voltage indicator and the spl meter but after running it through my amp I wouldn't run a system without one now. The way this restores the lows in your music is amazing. I could tell a huge difference with the Epic 160 in sound quality and overall impact and having a voltage/spl meter at your fingertips is great.

how does it work?mic is also included---
The mic is built right into the unit. It actually works pretty good. It was right around the term lab as far as accuracy. Maybe a db or two here and there but it also restores low frequencies in burned cds or mp3s and makes it sound better. Also has a built in digital volt meter. A very nice piece for sure.

I haven't actually tested the dB meter against a TL, but I hear they are fairly close, but then the difference would be how the dash is built in your car, since every dash is different, and this unit is typically dash mounted, VS a TL being mounted to a windshield. Even if the dB meter weren't there (like the original epicenter/epic) I wouldn't remove it from my system at all. I have competed with country and rock songs, and gotten THE SAME score as test tones, this is how powerful this item is. And it hasn't been mentioned yet, but it is ALSO a 13v line driver! Does it get any better?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:eek:

so basically, it takes the notes played at 100 hz and plays them at 30 hz instead? (##'s are adjustable)

its like the normal audio control epicenter, but with a db meter and volt meter?

What I was told, by AudioControl, about the parabass enhancement, is not that it plays the notes at other frequencies, but inf act plays notes that are almost completely lost in the recording process, or are extremely faint, this is why it is so productive, especially with MP3 format music, because when compressing the music into MP3 format, much of the lower audio spectrum is lost in compression and transfer. With the Epic, it can be restored. think of the 2 knobs on the front (frequency and width) as an adjustable EQ curve. the frequency knob, adjusts which frequency you want enhanced, and the width knob, adjusts the width of the curve, around the selected frequency. For example, I listen to almost all kinds of music and change the style all the time, but I like low and deep bass, I leave the frequency lower, and the width wider, to really enhance the really low bass, but it will enhance a very wide frequency range also. Hope it helps, if not feel free to ask me ?s or you can call AudioControl, there techs are very knowledgeable, and might have a better way of explaining it.
