Sold FS: 94-99 Jetta competition system

Hey doh, what's up. Thanx for taking the time to read the web page.

The web page isn't clear on some facts cause they arn't important to the sale but let me put some light to them now.

I used to own a car audio shop. This car was for a customer. As we got the system about half done there was a change in his personal finances that made him unable to pay for it at that time. Well when you get about half done on a project this big there is no turning back. We thought we would finish it for a large car show to promote the Rockwood/Volfenhag line then try to get the remaining money from the customer. Well the show was very successful and the system was removed after it. The components were sold off and new ones were installed in their place. It was then placed into storage until the customers finances changed. Nothing changed so it is now available to anyone with a Jetta.

It sounds and looks real good. Because of it's affordable price and the fact it can be installed quickly I think someone with a Jetta is going to really enjoy owning this.

This system would be suitable for:

1.) Someone's first or second system as their listening tastes probably are not as educated as someone who has had numerous systems, but who is at the same time very concerned about looking hardcore. Now that being said there is so much smooth bass in this thing to make focusing on a piece of paper to read very difficult. Also if you spend a little time with it at high volumes your ears are sure to ring! I wouldn't recommend this but I am just making a point.

2.) Someone who wants to look real good but can not afford to be without their car for long time. To have a nice looking system you need to be able to live without your car for what seems forever.

3.) Someone who wants to improve everything on their car...the appearance, performance, and audio but doesn't either have the many thousands of dollars that others have or the time or even the inclination.

Hope all this helps doh. Ya I know 14K (9300 US)sounds like a lot of money but when you are building a large system, particularly when it is going to be pretty, the cost adds up quickly. You find a lot of people agree that most of the cost of a good system is in the labor to do everything custom. Buying a system where this has already been done will save the new owner "mucho denero" .

Hey guys I want to get lots of discussion here. As long as your are mature feel free to join my thread.

If I only had a jetta..... This setup is PHAT as hell. I really do like the detail u put into this system. Does all your custom work look this good? If so where abouts are you located? I'd like to think about a system from you.

Well Corsica I wish I could help you but I sold my shop back in March. I am familiar with the shops in my region which is BC Canada.

Labor is probably the most overlooked aspect by newbies. I can't tell you how many installers I had to fire because even though they had "experience" and "training" their work wasn't good enough. A proper installation is HARD. Lots of people you know that work out of their mom's driveway will tell you that they know how to do it. Maybe they do but more often than not that has not been my experience.

A proper installation will ensure the components not only sound their best but will sound the way you want them to for your style of music. Also it will ensure the components last as long as possible.

To choose a shop ask to see/talk to people who have gotten the type of system you want from them. Ask your friends. When you go to the store talk not only to the salespeople but try to talk to the installers..they run the show. IMO stay away from the big stores that sell all types of electronics...there #1 goal is to sell...not to take the time to install. There are exceptions to this rule. Often small shops the owner is also the salesperson as well as the installer...these can be your best option.

And remember that knowledge is power. Learn all you can. Hang out in cool places like this forum. And remember we are all opinionated. This means that we don't always know what we are talking about and that we are often biased.

Unless you want to compete there isn't all that much you need to know. In car audio there is a rule of diminishing returns which means just cause you spend twice as much does not mean you will twice as good. Just cause something costs more or it's specs are better does not mean you will hear the difference.

hope this helps bud

thanx i appricite these kind words man. I am what u may of described as a 'Mom's driveway" installer. I am 17 (on march 12th) and have been doing installs for friends for 3 or 4 years. Eversence my buddy baught a new tape deck and had me help him install it I have been hooked on stereos. I made 3000 this past summer installing for friends. Word about my quality and pride i take in it speread. But like th old addage (plumbers house has leaky pipes, contracters homes arefalling apart) my cars stereo sux ass. i need some new stuff. All i have is cheap speakers and a kenwood tape deck @ the moent. In fact one of my installs won 2nd place in a division @ a db drag this past summer near Albany, NY. My installs take a while cause i take my time and test to get the bets sound but its woh the extra time. They even sae money. Installers 27 miles away charge 45 dollars for a head until installation. I charge 25 bucks. (more if i buy adapters upon reuest).

Good Job man..Nice install, I own a 96 jetta. And could relate to this install.Too bad Ive already spent Just about what your asking for, in the past 2 weeks. But I was wondering,

did this jetta have a Hi- amp alternator? I didnt see it on the list.Im at the start of my install, and am running a Xtant X-1001....Running at a 1ohm load, 1000 x 1...But its gigving me issues the amp is stable , but its not getting nuff power. I have a 150 amp fuse inline, and good solid connection, all top quaitly monster cable connections, using 4 gague wires.Ground is also secure, plus i have a 1-FaraD Cap. less then a foot away from amp...I know this thread was for the sale of the equipment, but being that youve worked with one, and done such a great job..Anyway you could give me some advice? Thanx a bunch..... Good luck with the sale.........

B.T.W..Thats the only amp connected to the battery the Xtant 603 hasnt gone in yet, which will run my highs. But the only way that will come about is if I get by my power issue.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Hey CrysTalis,

Sorry about the delay...just got your message now...guess I didn't have email notification set for this forum.

Do you still have that problem?

If so, how do you know that your amp isn't getting enough power? Describe the system. What is the rest of the system? It looks as if you have done a lot right. Pls give me more info to work with.

No the Jetta did not have an upgraded amp.

For large systems (and large systems only) it is a good idea. For someone running 1 -2 amps it is generally not required. Remember that whether you run the factory alt or an aftermarket unit there be little and in some cases no difference in amperage output at idle. In order to get more juice out of them the engine RPM needs to be above idle.

Also if playback duration with the engine off is very important to you then consider a quality deep cycle battery. Among others is the Optima yellow top.

When purchasing one consider The Mechanical Man...do a web search as I don't have his info. All things considered I found that he will give you the most amps/quality/service for your coin.

Hope this helps.
