I've just recently purchased an '85 m1009 which is a military blazer. The military contracted these trucks without stereos or speakers whatsoever, so I'm starting from scratch. They also don't have any interior, but the factory mounts for 3.5" are still in the dash (pointed up at the windshield)... furthermore, I'm hoping to take this truck offroad and will likely get hosed out on a regular basis.
Okay, so I'm looking at something like a retrosound Hermosa for a head unit. It's expensive, but it means I don't have to chop up the dash. It has bluetooth, which is my primary mode of media sourcing currently, and 2 aux inputs which I should be able to use with a cb. It outputs a surprising 25w x 4ch rms, but given the lack of interior, I'm more than a little hesitant to actually put four speakers in. This is my question:
The doors seem like prime candidates for speakers, maybe I could angle speakers upward? Should I do two or four for the best front only soundstage? Would a kick panel setup be better? How difficult would it be to waterproof them?
- Do kick panel inserts interfere with a clutch pedal? -
I'm used to having 2 12's in my buick, so I know it won't sound nearly as good, but I'm looking to get the best sound I can sans interior.
