Freaking 47 HZ

The box for my HC is tuned to 47HZ. What the hell is 47 HZ good for. It gets low on deep notes but the higher notes aren't all that great. Don't get me wrong this sub still hits but shouldn't it be tuned to like 35HZ. THe box is 3 cu ft. 1" MDF.

it has nothing at all to do with the sub. it is your box. you can change the frequency of the box by altering the port length.

I know its not the sub. I'm talking about the box. I'm impressed by the sub. I may just keep it that way since I will be competing this year for the first time. why would you choose 47hz thats really high only purpose that high is spl. Tune it to 35hz like you said, if you want really good sq then like 30. Your port is gonna get huge though. Chris

When you tune a box high, you trade low-end and flat response for efficency near the box's peak. That's why spl'ers use high tuned boxes. They're extremely loud at and near the peak, but below and above that range, it completely falls off. If you tune the sub lower, it won't be as punchy and probably not as loud as far as SPL, but it will sound better.

Thats cool cause I'm entering the AS 1-2 Division of MECA this year. Yes I am now a MECA member. Just got to tweek my system some more before any events come my way.

what would be a appropriate hz # for a box with one brahma 12 in a single cab truck i want it ported and high spl and how would i go about tuneing it
