Four SoundStream Rubicon 2500d's - finally!

lol finding crackhead CL deals is the way to go //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

time to start thinking of a new box design for the four 12's.

But I'm definitely looking forward to this build log. These subs are beast imo... underpowered by 2k and still wangchung.

The only thing I wonder is why were they discontinued... unless the X3 line wiped them out, but the X3 lineup is supposed to be a higher class of products than the SPLX series correct?

as far as the subs - the X3 is taking place of the XXX (if that gets discontinued, cant recall off the top). The SPLX-HX 12 I never thought was going away, but there is a new SPLX-HF (HF - High Freq, more peaky/burp oriented)... I prefer the SPLX-HX due to the abuse it can take, it gets very loud, and ironically it hits some notes that I havent heard other subs pick up... perhaps that is more box related but I've also had Orion HP 12's in this box and these SS's wreck them imho.

UPS did this to my 4th SS SPLX-HX 12 - looks like the corner of another box got smashed into the top of my shipping box and blasted the hard plastic cap right off, and also bent the top of the vc former. I spoke with my guy and determined that the height of the vc former bend should not hurt anything so I put a spare SPLX HX 12 dustcap on that my buddy Team SoundStream BillOneFifty had laying around. I bent the former back as best I could, did a half @$$ job of taking the old cap off and tore some of the finish off the cone, but who really cares. PIX.

It looks pretty bad, but no real issues.

Put together again - 5 min epoxy ftw

I threw it in a DaveTheBoxGuy single 12 ported box and beat on it a bit today on teh way in to work, held up with no errant noise or air leaks from the cap or anything...

so I messed up a bit on the boxes, but nothing bad, lol... Home Depot had a fairly intelligent wood cutter so things are OK. I may need to hit them up for a belt sander or some more Ryobi mouse pad sanding thingies. Got one amp in at first, and decided on my lunch to add a second. Strapping two SoundStream Rubi 2500d's @ 1 ohm total - mmm. With one amp they barely moved at all, it was a very buzzy box though, which is my purpose. I have a daily banger box that is fantastic that I will put back in after.... pix in a few.

i believe my boxes will be in the spot that the amps are in now, i want all 4 amps across the back of my hatch floor... two looked cool so four should be even better. It's Pro No Wall no matter how I look at it in NESPL, so may as well cram them as far forward as possible. Have 13.5" and 9.5" six inch aeroports to play with, going to try internal and external in the upcoming days before the big show in Sanford.

wasnt all that impressed with my first round of testing. right around the same number that three did with two amps @ .67, lots to learn as always.

have boxes firing subs fwd subs up port external rear, shortened them 4" too
