found a good batt deal, thought I'd share

LOL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Optima says right on their website that they use 99.99% pure lead. That was a secret that they held close to the vest. Every battery company I know claims they use 99%+ pure lead. Not a secret.
Then as far as lead plates, you can see from illustrations on the Optima site that they use very thin plates. Same goes for some other brands. I have seen others like Odyssey, Stinger, and others using thin plate technology as a selling point.

The only thing out of the three that might be a trade secret would be the specific gravity of their electrolyte. That is only measurable by destroying a battery. I have never seen specs posted anywhere from any manufacturer regarding their specific gravity at full charge. It is a meaningful spec to determine the potential lifespan of a given battery.
Only deep cycle batts use pure lead. Starting batts use a lead oxide paste and only the grid is pure lead.

Where in the hell do you see anyone talking about starting batteries? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

You brought it up dumbass. Optima uses lead oxide paste.

Tell me some more about the battery listed above. How thick are the plates? What percentage of lead do they use to make the plates? What is the specific gravity of the electrolyte? All of these things need to be known before you can properly evaluate a battery. If you have the answers, please do share.
I thought these were trade secrets?

Optima calls the Yellow and Blue series Deep Cycle batteries //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Fucking Tard!

ive never used cd batts in car audio but we use them where i work and they are very good batts we use them as battery backups on our machines if the power goes out and they do very well havent had many not perform well

Is that for AC grid backups? Or are they for power filtering?

this is what I call a real Deep Cycle Battery:

The AH on yellow top is 55ah , is this "the" spec to look at when determining what a particular batter will do ? Smalltown wut tha hell kina battery is that ? that is like wut 2 kinetik2400's then ? or are they comparable ?

It's a much bigger battery period. 2 kinetiks would probably be stronger and better, but not by a whole lot. It weighs what 158lbs. I've wondered why people would get 3 or 4 batteries when they could simply get one or two of these monsters.

Well, its a good deal to me. Only one drawback as I've researched about. You could get that one battery and save money but you would be putting greater pressure on the battery. To use 80% of the battery stores decreases the life of the battery more compared to using say 50%. Going on that theory I would get two batteries that aren't as strong, maybe around 150-200AH. It will be more money, and more weight in the vehicle but hopefully this way, battery life will increase. I'm in no way an expert, I'm just basing a decision off the research I've come across so far. Anyone with knowledge on this might want to chime in and give facts.

In theory, a bank of smaller batteries should perform the same as one large battery. You will typically spend more money on the bank of small batteries though. However, the battery shown above is very large and has a very respectable Ah rating, the price paid is quite high.

You could get three Deka 9A31 group 31 batteries for less than this one battery. Ran in a parallel setup, that bank would have a C/20 rating of 300Ah and 3000 CA. I would say that is a much better value.
