Don't listen to this knucklehead. I've lived in the DFW area for 29 years, have lived in Coppell, Lewisville, HEB, Arlington, Mansfield, etc. I'll never live in Dallas County ever again.
Fort Worth is MUCH better than Dallas, imo. Laid back, cultural, friendly people. Not like the pretentious, myspace loving, emo, $30k "millionaires" all over Dallas. Downtown Fort Worth/Sundance Square is a lot cooler, cleaner, and safer place to be than downtown Dallas. You really don't see cowboy hats and that kind of stuff until you get up to Northside and the Stockyards. As for queers, they tend to stay in Dallas, where they have dozens of clubs that cater to them. I'm not a fan of Plano, Frisco, Allen, personally. It's just too far from the West part of the metroplex. Southlake is nice but you can't get squat for a house under $300k.
But, to answer your question, that area around Handley is ghetto. Like, real bad ghetto. Your best bet is going to be North Fort Worth or Keller, Roanoke, Trophy Club, Grapevine, etc.
