Former Marine and an 04 Silerado ext cab.

I bought some Polk DXi650's to replace my door speakers only to find out there were no holes to drill in, but a piece of plastic that clips in. I found part of the answer I needed on this forum, and I am shooting from the hip for the rest of it.

I liked a lot of what I read on this forum, so I thought I'd sign up.

Hopefully I don't completely mess it up, and ruin a good set of speakers, but I will post my current project with pictures when I'm done.

I bought this truck when I was an E-2 in the Marines, so I couldn't afford the bells and whistles. Now as I begin to do aftermarket work on it I figured I would share info and pictures with ya'll,since I will probably be looking to you for tips and ideas on future work.

I'm gonna stick with high end coaxials and replace the front center seat with a sub box that is high enough to be an arm rest. My cousin has been in a lot of magazines for his paint jobs, so I'm crossing my fingers that if I cover the cost of paint and beer, he'll hook me up.

Welcome to Hell.

Oh, and I have an '08 Silverado that I installed all aftermarket audio equipment into...I pride myself on leaving as much as stock as possible...other than the new holes for the tweets, you'd never know it was aftermarket other than the Alpine CDA-9887...which is, by the way, the best fucking HU ever! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif

Good luck and do post build pics...I may take pics of my current setup sometime and post 'em.

Oh, and for speaker holes and mounting...you can use the stock holes in the door, just get some MDF, cut a ring out of it, caulk and screw to door and then screw speaker into that...works everytime...those Chevy plastic things are crap. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
