Box what?Wall what? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif Here's the lowdown. The annual xmas parade is tonight, we started construction on the float yesterday. The day started with god knows how many 2x4's, 3 sheets of OSB, and many more 2x4's and 1x4's. (pretty much all were 12ft. long except 12 or so that were 8ft.). Our main goal was to get the general construction done. The women will take care of "making it pretty".

We make it happen and function, they make it pretty. That's the way the world works. The little fireplace looked like crap when we picked it up, but it looks like it finally found its calling. The "smoke stack" or chimeny, whatever you want to call it will be painted and fitted today.I didn't pull the camera out until late in the build, but oh well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I didn't take all (well, most) of these so a lot came out kind of, weird. I'll have more pics tonight after the parade. A couple of the 2x4's aren't perfectly straight, which kind of screwed us in a couple spots. But the real lumber yard was closed for inventory. So, Ace was all we had.

Image shack isn't working for me right now, give me a few minutes.

We can only fit the living room, so we kind of drifted off the story. But it'll still be cool none the less. We're going to have an older lady with a bunch of kids on the float, and make it look like she's reading them a story. BTW: Yes it's a JC Penney float, no I don't work there. But when the lady of 'le house is a supervisor/visual specialist you get to do fun projects like this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif It actually was a blast building this, except the fact it was in the 20's.But when you're working, you hardly notice it.

looks like it might be a little flimsy with only the 2x4s holding up the outside perimeter. looks cool though, more pics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif.

Thanks for the compliments guys.We were working on it for only about 5 or 6 hours.I'm getting ready to leave for work, but I'm only working until 2 today, so I'll take a few more once I get home. It'll be getting "the treatment" while I'm at work.

Strength, it's strong enough, we made sure of that. It's not really an area of concern. We discussed it.

Round trip, this one will go about 5-8.Most of the time going 2mph. lol.

I just got home, and wow.Looks really good IMO, I'll have to get more pics. Now I have to go and start on the wiring of it all. (INCLUDING a little sound system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif)

There were actually a few potholes and train tracks, not to mention huge dips and nothing happened. And that was driving normal through the city. There are 8 2x4's holding the top up.The top weighs less than 150lbs. And the build team was very experienced.I wasn't worried about it one bit.We don't make "flimsy" stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Just an FYI

And reneeb is right. It'll be fairly easy to tear down.Yet again, I do not mean to come off as an *** right now.But it was sturdy enough, so no problems.

I will post some finished pics in a few.
