another day another scenerio...

after yesterday ive been hearing some

things... but i figured i would pose the

direct question...

which is going to be better for SQ between

these options...

the amp will remain the same...

i would like to use a sealed box...

[that is better for SQ, right?]

i just keep thinking of when i only had 1 12W3v2

and then added the second one... the HUGE difference

i heard...

was that because of the second sub or because

i was using more power from the amp...

certainly the single XXX would use most of my amps

power... but so would the dual SE's...

are the 2 going to sound better than one???

d@mn this OCD...

Well the XXX has alot more excursion than the SE's, which is important in sealed enclosures. But the SE's will have more cone area, I dont see a clear cut winner there. In terms of SQ, the XXX with xbl^2 will output less distortion than the SE with their traditional motor design, but the SE wont have to work as hard each to obtain the same output as the single XXX would. So again I see no clear cut winner.

I was just wondering how FinalWolf came to such a simple conclusion.

I believe that RE told me that the SE's had around 20mm of excursion where the XXX had 32 or 33. So two 12 SE's with 20 mm excusion vs. one 12XXX with 33 mm excursion. I would say that the SE's would be louder. Either way it is a good setup.
