OK, excuse the newbieness for a half second ... does that mean you can wire one Magnum for 1 ohm? Because that'd mean a lot of saved money by buying a 1000w @ 1ohm amp compared to a 1000w @ 2 or 4ohm.

 
yes. either 1 or 4 ohm. i believe thats why they use the dual 2 as its easier to find the big power for amps, when your working with 1 ohm compared to 2 ohm ratings
