can you use the stuff you use under carpeting as a sound dampering material. if so how would you line the inside of your trunk with that stuff.

You can, I used that egg-carton shaped foam for like matresses. The best way to make it stick, that I have found, is the 3M all purpose spray adheasive, red and black can. I recomend putting it over sound deadening material.
