foam tape gasket? yay? nay?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had experience with using foam tape as a gasket seal rather than having to use clay? (between the mdf ring and speaker & mdf and door). The foam tape should be an air tight seal so that's good. The only problem I could think of is that I question the foam tape's ability to withstand extreme heat. What does everyone else think?

Any other alternatives to a gasket besides foam tape and clay? Where can I get it? Thanks a bunch

I'm also thinking of either using the foam tape or Clay. Don't know which one would work better. But you can buy that tape just about any hardware store for very cheap.

But the weather stripping between the MDF baffle and the metal door frame. Then cover the MDF with clay, and call it a day. It takes only takes a couple of seconds extra to put the weather stripping in addition to the clay.
