Fixing an RCA wire...? System is down :(

Hey,

So one of my RCA wires going to my amp broke at the tip...the pin got stuck in the jack, I managed to pull it out but then I had to replace the end of the wire. I went and bought some RCA head things, cut the wire and soldered the new head to the wire... (shield to the outer layer and the middle of the wire to the pin)

I plug it in and now the system doesnt work, the amp powers up but nothing comes out of the sub...

What could I be doing wrong? Is there some secret magic behind RCA wires that I don't know? Do both sides of the wire have to be equal length or something?

Thank you so much if you can help, I miss my system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

why not just go to wal mart and buy another $10 cable and take the 1/2 hr to replace it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

You probably soldered it wrong. It's easier (IMO) to take an old one, snip the tip and a few inches of wire off, then strip the wires, twist solder and tape, instead of soldering wires straight onto metal. At least that's how I'd do it. Just make sure you have the wire meant for the middle part soldered to the white wire, and likewise for the outside part of the plug. (2 wires per plug in the protective jacket, just incase you didn't know).

Bad news, I went and bought a whole new wire, tested it out and the system still doesnt work...

I did have to open the amp up to get that little pin that was stuck in the RCA jack out, what could I have ****ed up? Anything to check for?

Any ideas here are appreciated, I just dont get it...

Thanks

Any ideas for this? Anything I should check for in the amp? Any silly mistakes I could be making here? I'm all out of ideas and desperately want to get my system working again.

Thanks

I just tested it with my ipod going straight into it (mini jack to RCA wire), at first I could hear it playing but not too loud, I turned it up and I could actually hear it hitting ok for a second, then it started getting less and less loud. Then I couldnt hear anything at all, I changed songs, still nothing... I don't know what that means?

Any help here?
