actually the sonotube was a precision port product, http://www.thrilleraudio.com sells them

lowes and HD may have some big ones, but they are always 1/8" thick, which is way too thin, mine was 1/4" thick and after shipping only 30 something dollars, then all you have to do is cut endcaps

Is that technically a sonotube, or just a cylindrical enclosure. Correctame si soy idiotico, but I thought that a sonotube enclosure is stuffed tightly with some sort of filling material to slow the back wave down, and is still open at the top (much, if not exactly like a cylindrical transmission line)? Also, they're usually much longer than 36", but again, correct me if I'm wrong.

Sonotube is just the name of the concrete pouring tube used in construction. You can build anything you want with it really (TL, ported, sealed, etc.). Or pour columns too.
