Fight a pro boxer?

There's this guy I work with who used to be a pro boxer. The past few days he's been under a lot of stress and has kind of been acting like a dick. I'm not the kind of guy to take crap off of anybody and lately he's been getting kind of but not really threatening towards me. I'm not really his boss, but when he's out with me I'm in charge. I think he resents that he's in his forties and is making less money than a 25 year old white boy. Plus I get the feeling he doesn't much care for whites anyway.

So today I get the feeling he's right on the edge and I basically make it known that I am not afraid of him and I'm willing to take whatever he decides to bring.

I've been in my share of fights and I'm by no means small or weak. But despite the fact that I have a major size/weight advantage, I'm a bit nervous about potentially getting caught up in a fist fight with a former professional boxer. He claims he almost made the Olympic team in the eighties. But he's pretty much out of his head (probably from all the years of getting his face smashed.)

Like I said, I'm a big guy. 6' 4", ~330lbs. Fairly decent shape from the work I do. But I know my main weakness is I'm fairly slow. But I'm good with pain and can shake off a punch pretty easily. I know I've got a strength advantage based on the amount I can lift and run with on my job compared to him. So if I can get him in the clinch or get on top of him, it's all over.

He on the other hand is only about 5' 9". I'm not a good judge of weight, but I'm sure he's less than 200lbs, more than 150. He'll have quickness on me and experience. But he's also older (40's) and weaker. But if I can't hit him, he'll wear me down quick.

I'm not saying it's an inevitable fight. I'm just saying it may be coming soon if he doesn't calm his a$s down. I tend to have a quick temper myself and will push someone over the edge easily. And I don't think he needs much pushing.

I get stuck with a lot of guys like this. It's not the first time. It's the nature of the way my company brings on my helpers. Scraping the bottom of the barrel of temp agencies for losers like this. I've had to get a lot of guys fired and I'm afraid if I keep reporting these guys, the company will start to think I'm the problem. (Maybe I am. I'm a dick. I admit it. But if we all just do our jobs, we'll get along.) So I'm just going to try to get through tomorrow and see how things go.

So what does everyone think? Ever fight a pro fighter? Any pro fighters here that have advice? Like I said, this isn't my first rodeo. I've been up against some good fighters and came out alright. But never against anyone with any REAL training... just street shit.

in his 40s and a smaller guy. no offense but you would have your hands full.

the size shouldnt be much of an issue since hes had training. you may get a few good shots in but theres a really good chance he would shrug them off

well... i box as an amatuer, in the 152lb weight class, at the gym, we sometimes have professionals come in and spar with us, most of them are VERY highly experienced and i would not recommend exchanging punches with them, especially when not wearing gloves! if you do end up fighting this guy, your best bet would be to use your weight, take him to the ground and try to land elbows... but to be straight up with you, in the stand up game, you dont wanna trade hands with this guy...

Just give us pics of your face when/if he beats the shit out of you. other than that, my only advice is go for the ground and pound. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I don't think he made the Olympic team. I'm not even sure he's telling the truth about the ALMOST part.

And I don't know if that is the same guy. Could be two boxers with the same name.

I'll post pics if I can. But no shit when I fight I go all out. He's really going to have to shut me down. I somehow don't doubt that he'll take me. But I'm going to give him hell.

why risk your health / life over a loser?

people get stabbed and hit with bricks, tire irons , cars phuked up and chit all the time. (after the fight)

find another way to work round the situation, use your 'smarts'.

boxers are only good on their feet at arms length. tackle his old ***.

but trust me a seasoned boxer is no joke, try not to get punched.

Good luck....just cause you have size means nothing....I have seen alot more smaller guys that kick ***......I have a buddy that we call "ali" cause he knocks out ALOT of guys...especially big loud mouths who think just beacuse their big...they will walk all over people.....you MAY underestimate because he smaller and im not saying you cant handle your own....but older/pro boxer = Experience...

also, dont let boxrec.com confuse you, i gaurentee that any boxer that has had a successful enough amatuer career to go pro, they have talent. it doesnt matter if he has a Pro record of 0 - 5, because out of those 5 fights, dont forget that he fought trained fighters, and as far as the olympic situation goes, its hard to say, that would have to do with his amatuer career, as thats what the olympic boxing program is, but its hard to say... best of luck though, if you need any other questions about boxing, just let me know. i live for it!
