There's this guy I work with who used to be a pro boxer. The past few days he's been under a lot of stress and has kind of been acting like a dick. I'm not the kind of guy to take crap off of anybody and lately he's been getting kind of but not really threatening towards me. I'm not really his boss, but when he's out with me I'm in charge. I think he resents that he's in his forties and is making less money than a 25 year old white boy. Plus I get the feeling he doesn't much care for whites anyway.
So today I get the feeling he's right on the edge and I basically make it known that I am not afraid of him and I'm willing to take whatever he decides to bring.
I've been in my share of fights and I'm by no means small or weak. But despite the fact that I have a major size/weight advantage, I'm a bit nervous about potentially getting caught up in a fist fight with a former professional boxer. He claims he almost made the Olympic team in the eighties. But he's pretty much out of his head (probably from all the years of getting his face smashed.)
Like I said, I'm a big guy. 6' 4", ~330lbs. Fairly decent shape from the work I do. But I know my main weakness is I'm fairly slow. But I'm good with pain and can shake off a punch pretty easily. I know I've got a strength advantage based on the amount I can lift and run with on my job compared to him. So if I can get him in the clinch or get on top of him, it's all over.
He on the other hand is only about 5' 9". I'm not a good judge of weight, but I'm sure he's less than 200lbs, more than 150. He'll have quickness on me and experience. But he's also older (40's) and weaker. But if I can't hit him, he'll wear me down quick.
I'm not saying it's an inevitable fight. I'm just saying it may be coming soon if he doesn't calm his a$s down. I tend to have a quick temper myself and will push someone over the edge easily. And I don't think he needs much pushing.
I get stuck with a lot of guys like this. It's not the first time. It's the nature of the way my company brings on my helpers. Scraping the bottom of the barrel of temp agencies for losers like this. I've had to get a lot of guys fired and I'm afraid if I keep reporting these guys, the company will start to think I'm the problem. (Maybe I am. I'm a dick. I admit it. But if we all just do our jobs, we'll get along.) So I'm just going to try to get through tomorrow and see how things go.
So what does everyone think? Ever fight a pro fighter? Any pro fighters here that have advice? Like I said, this isn't my first rodeo. I've been up against some good fighters and came out alright. But never against anyone with any REAL training... just street shit.
