fiberglassing

well i want to fiberglass a box for two tens but i've never fiberglassed before, i know it takes time and alot of work but i like the look and want to learn how. Now i'm sure i'll either mess up a couple times or wont like it when i'm done so does anyone know where i can get cheap stuff to fiberglass and whats the best/easy stuff to learn with..? any hekp would be great thanks

I would also recommend a variable speed Dremel with cutting/sanding wheels.. Ive never made a Fiberglass box before but my brother has and the Dremel with cutting and sanding wheels where very handy for smoothing out rough spots

there is nothing cheap about fiberglass. i would suggest you start off making some kick panels or similarly sized items. it will be much easier to learn on. x1000 on fiberglassforums.com

work with small amounts at once

make sure to use the right amount of hardner 'always'

since small mounts at once it will take alot of time take some valuim while oyu work unless you dont get bored easy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

use good resin from like us composites like the 440 prem as it flows better

disposible brushes, cups, plstic wrap and rubber gloves

alot of acetone on hand for clean up

and for a boox for say 2 10's expect to spend about $125-$200 bucks dep on what your overall build will require

as for dremal yeah good to have but power tools like a hand grinder with sanding disks and cutoff blaDES IS ALOT BETTER AS FIBERGLASS ISNT A FREINDLY MATERIAL TO WORK WITH ONCE ITS CURED //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

have fun!!

to much to talk about better to jump in and get your hands dirty

and trust me a box for 2 10's and you working at 3-4oz tiny amounts of resin at once and need 5-6 layers of 1.5oz mat mini\mum could seem like forever and a day to finsih a box

pick up 2 gallons of the B-440 Premium resin from UScomposites.

if it's your first time your going to mess up the first time, and if you do you still have enough resin to fall on and not get into a delayed phase of ordering more. when i first fiber glassed i bought 2 gallons and ended up having to go thru 3 gallons by the time i was done with my project. i ended up being delayed a week because of shipping.
