As far as glasssing the door panels, It really depends upon what you want to do. If you want to keep the same style Of door panels and just want to do some modding, plastic filler is the way to go. It will stick to the plastic and you can mold your mods into your present door panels. If you want to get really wild, and create your own door panels from scratch. I usually use the originals for a size template. Get the size cut out make sure it fits to the door.
