fiberglass cone?

well, i just got some stuff in the mail and the cone i was gonna use is ****ed (cosmeticly)... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

would it be possible to use that cone as a form and make a copy out of fiberglass cloth, since the cloth would have an even thickness throughout???

2 layers of the cloth would be just as strong if not stronger than any cone that would have gone on this thing???

possible. it is worth trying. weight may be a problem. if you could get something light weight to "sandwich" in between, it would be better (something like the honeycomb you have) and then resin the front and backside of that. just a thought....

lol... wouldnt that just add to the weight of the honeycomb cone...

you dont think it would weigh less with just a couple layers of fiberglass cloth and resin?

well i peeled off the top layer of the original cone and saw just the bare honeycomb... i think i might try to lay the cloth straight onto that

ok... so i peeled the nomex layer that was all messed up off the cone to expose the bare honey come...

then i layed some fiberglass cloth on top of the honeycome and carfully aplied resin... i tried to make everything as even as possible...

i didnt get any pics of this

once everything dried i did a little triming

keep in mind i still trimed everything up nice before i put the surround on

i just put i tiny bit of glue on the surround to hold it to the cone, that way i can pull it off if i decide to paint the cone

now, thats just what i decided to do with a jacked up cone, im not sure if i want to use it or not since ive got a different cone one the way, im also not sure if i want to paint this cone or not, i have some real nice dark pearl blue i think would go on it nicely, but im not for sure

btw, i only used one layer of fg cloth ontop of the honeycomb... its strong as crap and still pretty light... im not for sure if im gonna use it or not tho
