my current setup right now is 2 10w3v3's running on a hifonics 1606 in a box that provides .65 cu. ft. of sealed air space per sub. im wondering whether or not it would be worth it to get rid of the w3's and get ssd's instead? i no that .65 is about the min requirement for sealed air space on the ssd's but thats all i can do. thanks

why do u want to go from jl w3's to ssd? it sounds like a lateral move to me

yer going to be feeding them the same power as your jl's.. i doubt u will notice much of a difference... but yer right.. the ssd's can handle more power.. meaning u can get a bigger amp and really tell a difference

or why not build a ported box for the jl's? if u want it to be louder.. push those puppies to the max.. the w3's are decent drivers

Besides the box I'm pretty sure I'm pushing them to the max wen I can make them bottom out. I'm running right around 1600 watts that would blow them. True?

well.. it voids the warranty, that is for sure

but lets take a few things into consideration

1)yer keeping the amp

2)yer keeping the box

3)same car

the only thing yer going to be changing is the sub.. sure.. the ssd can handle more power and is concidered a higher wattage sub.. but it doesnt necesarily mean that it will sound better/louder than the w3s just from a sub switch

the w3s are being pushed to their limits.. and are pretty well proven subs

the ssd's can handle the wattage and then some.. but it is still the same wattage and same box... sure the ssd displaces more volume and could sound different.. but i doubt it will be as significant as yer hoping

if u want to upgrade.. then build a new box and see where to go from there.. if u want more sound.. get a bigger amp and subs.. cuz i doubt the w3's can handle much more abuse from a 1600 watt brutus amp in a ported box

but.. it all falls in yer lap i suppose... u can take the risk of getting the ssd's hoping to have better sound.. but u may be disappointed OR u may be happy.. i don't know.. just from looking at the bigger picture.. i doubt there will a significant difference from what yer used to

Here's another thought then. I gota keep the box the way it is. I have a crew cab 2007 silverado and need to keep the subs underseat for work. I no this isn't iptimal by any means. What can I do to gain from the w3's?

Is there a way I could port this box. Its from sub thump. If I did a nice tube port it would have to be so long. Or would it be worth it still?

Yea I just recently put that in there. But now one of my subs bottoms way before the other one? Any answer to this?
