Fi Q 15?

haha dude i know nothing about car stereos i just know how to hook up a basic one and use it. i dont know what rms means and i dont know what a ohm is. thats why i joined this site to learn.

ok...ohm(measure of resistance) loads are determined by the speaker.

we will use subwoofers for an example: one single vc(voice coil) 4ohm means you can wire the one coil to an amp @ 4ohm total load.

dual vc 4ohm means the sub has a pair of vc's that are 4ohm each and you have to wire each to be able to handle the full power rating. parallel 4ohm vc's = a 2ohm total load and series 4ohm vc's = 8ohm load.

Once you know what the total load will be produced by the sub woofer, then you can find an amp. For the FiQ, you will want no less than 1000wrms. Assuming you get the dual 2ohm sub woofer and parallel the coils, you will have 1ohm total load. this means you will need an amp that puts out 1000wrms @ 1ohm to match rms(continuous power) of the sub woofer.

you can put a good bit more power to a Q than 1000wrms

The FI q is a great sub. Coming from personal experience i have 2 18"s. I would bet 1 15" would get louder than 2 w3 12"s and sound better doing it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

cool dude thanks. ill check out that site. so if i were to buy a Fi Q 15 which one wuld you suggest i buy? and what amp would you recommend? witha decent price in consideration.

check the classifieds for 1000wrms or larger amps. since the Q is dual 1 or dual 2, look for an amp that does that power at 1ohm(dual 2 sub parallel), 2ohm(dual 1 sub series) or 4ohm (dual 2 series)

you know what the sub options are, so get an amp and then pick the sub that will match based on vc configuration

lol. im so confused dude.
if you are limited in vc configs or have the subs already, then you buy an amp to match subs

since you know the subs vc config options, you can buy an amp to fit either config and then buy the sub to match

sry for turning that one around on you:laugh:
