"KDC-X991

USB/AAC/WMA/MP3/WAV/CD Receiver with External Media Control

Connect your iPod or a USB mass storage device and take control of it in high-speed. For instance, use CD ripping for high-speed transfer of music into the memory that is capable of storing up to 370 songs. And, the 4096-color OEL display is bright and clear to provide all the info you need.

Digital Audio Platform (DAP)

The KDC-X991 CD receiver features a brand-new DAP - an innovative platform that improves dynamic range and noise tolerance. It is further supported by Kenwood's original Supreme technology to restore the high-frequency elements that are often lost in a typical compressed audio file, making possible noise-free yet dynamic playback of digital sources. The DAP is also capable of ripping from CDDA to WMA format at X1 speed while you listen to music, or copying USB data (MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV) to its built-in 512MB flash memory. A transfer takes only about 5 seconds to import a 5-minute long song, and the memory can store up to 370 songs. Sound quality can be selected from three file formats. The new DSP portion of the DAP features SRS WOW HD audio enhancement technology for improved clarity and acoustic presence, a sound management system, independent 5-channel digital time alignment and customized capacitor for greater sound quality. Externally, the KDC-X991 features a 4,096-color OEL display, which is brighter and responds faster than conventional LCD displays for rich and vivid color reproduction.

Graphic Motion Analyzer

Kenwood G-Analyzer or GMA offers you five displays — G-Graphic, G-Meter, G-Counter and Stop Watch, plus Horse-power function that measures and records the max horse-power of your car. GMA information can be viewed as numerical data or enhanced graphics on the head unit's display.

USB 2.0 Direct Connection

Models featuring USB port enable connection to portable USB mass-storage players/USB thumb drives and audio control of MP3 players. A single or multi-slot card reader* can also be connected to the USB port, allowing your music to be put neatly into different types of memory cards* . The connected USB device is also recharged while it is connected to the port. USB port is located on the front panel for the KDC-X491.

About Kenwood Music Editor:

“Kenwood Music Editor is an original desktop software* that helps organize, manage and transfer music files to USB devices (memory/HDD). Automatic Playlist Generation is another newly available function that analyzes each song based on the tempo/spectrum distribution, and categorizes them into familiar genres such as Pop, Rock, Ballad, etc.”

Differences over the next model (the 891):

4-line display with customizable wallpaper (instead of 3-lines)

Now just to be patient (I hear July). I'm glad Kenwood is taking their time... It'll be my next HU.

"KDC-X991.....
are you sure this is the same one... my bro gave me this at least 5 years ago...
Take a little bit better look next time, Brad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The OP is asking about the KDC-X911 which is several years old at this point rather than the KDC-X991 which hasn't even been released yet...

x13alle12x ~

It's an older eXcelon unit and iirc the top model in the range for the year that it was new.

What exactly are you wanting to know about it?

Hmm.... If i was to put it up for sale what would be reasonable? The only flaw that I can see on it is the security screen (face flips around when off) has a small scratch on it. It has been sitting in my closet for awhile..

The "security" screen? As in the blank black panel that shows when the face is revolved closed? If that's the only issue then it's a minor thing at worst and likely not something anyone would really care about.

The X911 was a "deadhead" in that it offers no internal power and must be used with external amplification if memory serves...

The real problem with that particular headunit (and many like it in differing years) is the faceplate mechanism itself. That deck has Kenwood's D-Mask+ automatic revolving faceplate and that particular design became so problematic for Kenwood that it became discontinued after they received a myriad of complaints and an huge overage of warranty claims one the ribbon cable that attaches the faceplate to the unit's chassis became damaged or unattached at one end or the other. ;crap:

What would it be worth used? I really couldn't place a solid figure on it since Kenwood sadly doesn't enjoy all that much popularity (around here at least) outside of a few selected members that are die-hard fans ~ myself included.

I don't know, man - take some clear pics of it...preferably with something that shows your forum username on it and the current date (this is to prove that you actually have possession of the item you are trying to sell) and put a price on it and then make a For Sale thread for it.

If your price is agreeable to someone then they'll bite.

If not then you can always lower your asking price later. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
