i know there have been several people in this board who have had subs broken by fed ex, and i know ive seen damaged xxx threads, well i got a question to all hte people that have been through this process.

I shipped my xxx12 and sold it to a member here, i build a **** crate for the sub and even covered the cone with a mdf board screw to the board bellow that, turns out sub never got to the buyer and he called turns out the package was DAMAGED, so i called today and i spoke with a very helpfull lady at fed ex and told me to file an insurance claim. I asked her if she wanted me to get a pricing sheet of the sub she said yes , i told her the amount and she said what did i write in the insurance claim when i shipped it, i wrote 300$ cause thats what it was bought for , but obviously the driver cost more like 400$.

The lady said that usually they give you what amount you wrote down in the receit, thing is that i wrote down what i sold it for not whats worth.

Does anyone know if im stuck with 300$ for sub thats is no longer produced? has anyone been in a similar situation?

Oh and the note on the package said something like the damage no longer usable , funny cause the only part that was exposed was the magnet and the frame, i wonder how they ****ed up steel. Oh and i told them if she can send me the package back, the only part on **** xxx that can be damaged is the cone really so i hope i can get at my 400$ and recone it for like 100$.

oh believe me, the basket can get quite owned as well as the cone. Have a look at inhumanacura's RE MT... It was shipped in a crate to where the sub could NOT move at all. UPS however managed to break the hell out of it.

btw, youll only get $300

If you insured it for $300, you will not get more than $300...
Correct. You don't insure items for what you sold them for. You insure them for the cost to replace. If you don't then you will cover any additional out of your own pocket. Why should they give you $400 when you only paid for $300 worth of insurance? If I under-insure my car, progressive isn't responsible for more than I claimed when I signed and agreed to the policy. This is no different.

The guy i bought them from must have spent atleast an hour or 2 building the 3/4" mdf crate it was sent in, it should NOT have been broken when i recieved it..I got 1 sub in good shape but they must have dropped this one from atleast 20' and both recones that came with it were destoyed as well....still waiting for a check //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I have gone through 3 damage claims with UPS (i'm taking one to small claims currently) and I'm currently working on one with Fedex as well. On two of the claims were the package was all but completely crushed UPS reimbursed me quickly...on the third though where only a corner was crushed but the item in the box was broken in half they decided it was not their fault. I take pictures of all my items before i ship them...i then take pics of packaging...pics of item in the box...then pics of the finished product...for these exact reasons. UPS will pay the insurance and the court fees...it's just a matter of time. FedEx is currently giving me the run around though, so i'll have to see how that comes out.
