Alright I'm going to start planning a Feb. skiing trip now and need your advice on location, lodgings, and mountains. My budget is $3k for 2 people and that has to cover everything for 6-7 nights (flight, lodgings, ski rentals, a few lessons, food, strippers j/k)
We've been on 3 skiing/boarding trips together previously over the past 8 years to:
1) Utah - Stayed with family (Alta, Brighton/Solitude, Canyons, Dear Valley)
2) Colorado - Stayed in Breck (Copper, Arapahoe, Breck, Vail)
3) Vermont - Stayed in Stowe (Jay's peak, Stowe, Killington)
We liked the skiing & mountains best in Utah and the town/lodgings best in Colorado (maybe because we didn't stay with family). Vermont / NE are out of the question because lets be frank, New England sucks.
Need your advice if there are any other places that compare to Utah or Colorado in terms of quality. Have read good things about Jackson Hole, Taos, Big sky, Sun Valley, Banff, Whistler and Tahoe but have never been. Would be nice to go somewhere new but we don't want to stick with just 1 mountain the whole week. Would also be nice to do some snowmobiling or have other fun actives for the days off the mountain.
Would appreciate some feedback on your prior experiences and where you stayed.
