I bought a Bosch Drill, and I love it..... I think there are cheaper, but its still nice....

for sockets and hand tools go with Craftsman....Its hard to beat their reliability or the no questions asked waranty

power tools - The big names are consistantly good...(Porter Cable, Makita, DeWalt, etc...)

Bits - Irwin ( I love this set also)

One word of advise....Dont buy Craftsman Power tools, the batts. go bad in like a year, and then the tool is useless (batts cost more than the tools)

My gf's dad broke a Craftsman screwdriver from a tool set he's had since he got his first car when he was 16. He's fourty-something now. He took it to Sears and they honored the lifetime warranty. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Atleast they honoured the lifetime warranty. Good thing they Craftsman is still in business.

I will never own any other hand tool besides a snap-on. Quality is unmatched and there actually is a difference. It is not worth the mark up in cost however if you find deals on it used or discounts its worth it. I have been using Dewalt drills for a few years now and they have been holding up great, they xrp drills anyways. Craftsman sucks nutz. Jet makes really good machines I have used a few in my auto shop. Ingersall Rand makes some killer air tools and snapon has some pretty decent air grinders available. There is a few tools that I would get from cheap place but not many, When it comes to replacing and fixing tools, The snap on truck comes directly to my business....

I ran over my DeWalt drill. Granted it was only one tire and a cavalier, but still. Black and Decker makes pretty decent entry level stuff. My recip saw held up nicely to mud and water around the pipes I was cutting.

Craftsman is probably the best for hand tools. A socket got stuck on a wrench, literally would not come off. They gave me a new wrench and socket.

The Best Tools Snap-on-excellent warranty put have to call Snap-on guy or wait til next time he comes by to get replcement.

Best Value-Craftsman-probably easist and best warranty, for ease of replacement.

Power tools-Dewalt-Milw.

The new 36v Dewalt stuff rocks. **** drill will twist your arm off, saw will cut through anything, but heavy as hell
