Looking into getting a brand new sports bike. Real power house bikes that can do more than just go in a straight line like the 'busa and zx-14. List your favs. Im partial to the yamaha r1.

2. Zuki gixxer (gsx-r)-1000:

3. Ducati 848:

Any others?

If you are looking for a great handling street bike that has a lot of power than find a Honda RC-51 even a used one will hang with any of the bikes you posted. Not being cocky they are just awesome bikes. If you want something brand new though I would go with the BMW or the Ducatti

Love the BMW, but I'm not a real crotch rocket guy. One of the bikes that was on my short list before I came across a steal of a deal on my Valkyrie was a FJR1300. Took one for a demo ride, **** fast, very comfortable (I'm 6'2" / 240lbs), and had great fuel economy for a bike of that style. IIRC they could easily go around 300 miles per tank.

Thing to watch with the Duc at least is service intervals. I think MV is similar as well requiring a valve adjustment every 7500 miles (and that's just the newer Duc's the older ones were less), Yamaha's are about 26k miles iirc.

I have had several bikes over the years, and on track days have had the chance to ride many others. My favorite of all time would be the agusta personally. Ducati's 1199 is very very nice as well though.

I've always been a fan of the zx-10, but i'll tell you what one of the best comments i've heard from a dealer was. "All of these bikes are faster than most people can handle so get which ever one is the most comfortable." Not saying you cant handle the power, just that unless you are on a track often or used to be a racer, there is no way you will use that bike to anywhere near it's full abilities. So sit on them, test ride them and pic the one that feels best as all of the bikes are pretty equal in handling, speed, and reliability.

I got a chance to ride a 2011 r1 yesterday and I can honestly say I've never experienced such power out of the gate. That thing was so fast. I really like yamahas cross spline pattent. It gives them a v-twin throaty sound instead of ricy. The thing handles really well to suprising for a 1000cc. I haven't gotten to actually ride an agusta yet. Just read up and seen a couple. They look like great bikes. The gixxer ive heard is a good bike to from several riders. Supposedly the 13 r1 is supposed to weigh less than the r6's and still gain another 25 hp. Rumors though. Haven't seen much proof. Just magazine talk. If thats true, im positive it will be the most dominant bike to date. But I guess im going to have to keep looking around. Any others we have yet to touch?

i would never buy a liter bike for the street been there done that, insurance is twice as much.

just buy an r6(slightly taller, and wider than the competitors), and with the money you save each month invest in performance, i have my street bike bored resleaved, all new injectors/everything else.

Dino-ed 0-100 in 5.1sec and 0-60 in 2.7, and i hate the way my r1 sat (07). even the my track times are only 1-3 seconds off from the liter bikes. per lap, and average is about 1:04 per lap

the ducati 848 is a decent street bike as well, but again insurance goes up. and since you live here in mn its about 4 times as high as anywhere else due to its "superbike" status.
