Faulty HU?

Hey Folks,

got an Alpine Cde 9873.

It has an option for amount of subwooofer, and the amount of bass. For some reason, the subwoofer option doesn't work at all anymore. It just stays at about a little under half way. This is annoying because sometimes id like to turn the bass down to save my speakers and crank the subs, but it doesnt work. Just wondering if I did something that made it mad?

At least it isn't like my Pioneer p3700mp where it just died then drained my battery along with it.

Haha yeah dude its sweet. Subs just pop out when I flip the switch...haha. Well yeah dude my battery just died, haven't checked the hu. Maybe that's what happened. Minesotta just had a coldfront of like -23 plus windchill. Great day.

Idk this has been like my 4th hu cuz I got a bunch of faulty ones. This is probably another, dangit. Anyone selling a hu for a good price? Haha

sending dc (subs popping out) to subs is no good. it may look cool but you is gonna fry dem coils if you keep it up.

You know it could be that, but I don't abuse any of my hu's. I bought my first 2 off amazon refurbed. The 2nd one worked for a weak then died. My 3rd one, (which was an alpine) sort of was my fault. I hit a major bump, and the power wire got loose and so it kept barley touching, making it to my deck turned on and off super quickly, which eventually lead to the death of it. Now this one has been absolutely fine, just the subwoofer feature no longer will work, which is why I'm here.

And my comment about subs popping out...I don't know if you guys took that seriously or not but it was a joke. Apparently a super funny one, too.

but on to the ? you said the battery died?

go into your functions menu and turn the sub control back on... or at least dbl check to make sure it is on... decks have a tendancy to factory reset when they lose power.....fyi lol

Look around in the settings... Know there was an option to turn the bass boost feature off on my old sony HU. The option just disappeared one day and I didnt know wtf was happening. Hm, I'll look into it. Actually I really can't test to see if the subs are working because as of last week, they got stolen //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I'll try manually hitting the switch to reset it (Once i get a sub in there) and see if that works.
